Texas small town values are very different from US Metro and Suburban values and for the most part they want to keep them that way. Those values are suited to small town life in Texas, but not elsewhere. They resent outsiders telling them what to teach their kids.

Fine. First Wharfie steals my "reality-based community" schtick, and then you steal my official Texas GOP platform citation, carefully laundered for the pros in Message 28363303 . Most of the google results went through liberal sounding sites; somehow, the conservatives don't seem all that enthusiastic about highlighting that bit of forward-looking policy. Just kidding of course, that particular quote and link should be being spread far and wide by all possible means. Or maybe not, it's totally possible, given the ascendancy of Fox News and other conservative propaganda outlets, that more than half the country might think it's a good idea. Shudder.
