I didn't play the F trade... but, did watch it for a while...

But, then, every choice is a choice... so, that includes that each "pick" isn't a zero sum game rather than one option among many... and the question always is... if you missed X... how did the choice of Y instead do in a head to head performance comparison ?

I'm a purposeful comparison shopper... and, I'm not particularly risk averse in the traditional sense of that meaning avoidance rather than recognizing when the balance is in my favor... At the time of the F trade, I bought some stupid worthless penny stock instead... for $0.05 a share... and maybe it was just pure dumb luck that it was trading at $8 a few months later ? It WAS pure luck that I happened across it as I wandered the market space... it wasn't luck that I recognized it for what it was... when others didn't. Another about the same time I rode from $0.008 to $0.17... and, oddly enough, have found that same issue more timely again right now than NOK is... and, I'm not regretting owning it instead of NOK ? Choices. But, informed choices. That means doing the work in DD to be well informed... on many more things than I end up buying.

I'm also a patient person... and don't ever feel any particular need to put my money at risk in a trade... if having patience makes more sense than "playing"... but, IF I'm in, I'll also be patient as a holder, usually because I've answered the questions others might not have answered...

If you miss a double on a chart trade or a 10 bagger...now and then... <shrug> there will be others you play better... ?

I posted a few penny picks for a chart trade on Wednesday, that I'd been following for a short while...

Should I have played NOK this week... instead of DNDT or FRCN ? Or, instead of GPI or CPSL ?

Hmmm.

I always have a list of stocks I follow that is WAY larger than the list I have $ in ? I don't have a shortage of 10 bagger plus potentials on that list... but, I'm not finding it useful to divide my money between them and trust to luck in having one or two succeed... to counter balance the risk of the others that WILL evaporate instead ?

I don't mind dabbling with a few shares in the short term chart trade while waiting for a situation that's actually worth buying... for more than a chart trade... But, I won't do that just because... usually only because I think there's a good buy in the market, and big move coming "soon"... AFTER the risks have been either fully enough managed... or realized ???

And, then, maybe the stock isn't the issue as much as timing issues in the market ?

Is this a particularly timely point to consider investing in telecom or telecom tech ? Or, not ?

My focus... tends to be on KNOWING what I'm buying before buying it... if its more than a chart trade... and that will often mean doing the DD for a year or two... or more... before seeing a useful entry point ? Came up recently in discussion of another pick... that, "finding the right horse to ride" is only half the challenge... You also need to do a good job of finding the right time for the entries and exits ?

I'm following NOK for a couple of different reasons...

One is that it might be useful to trade it... short term... at some point.

One is that, IF they resolve the problems, it might be worth holding a few shares for a longer ride... but, honestly, I'm posting EXACTLY what I think about that... and I've not bought the propaganda that they've "fixed it" already.
We know there are more ugly numbers coming. We don't know if the new products will prove the charm that lets them change out the cards they've been dealt the last few years. THEY don't know that yet, either. FWIW, in that aspect, I don't believe in luck... rather than management performance. So, I'm not optimistic. I still think I'll be poking at NOK months from now... still waiting for evidence of a meaningful change...

Then, there are a couple "other" reasons I follow NOK too... as it's an easy proxy for the segment... and, I have a couple interests in the segment, ranging from big picture IP interests to business concepts that depend on using aspects of the utility, the direction of evolution in the tech, or, the "finger on the pulse" issues in the market, and etc.

NOK is a "potential interest" for me... useful to follow... but, it's not timely for me to consider putting $ in it...

I think "investments" are made because of "the business" and not "the charts"... although charts are useful for timing entries and exists... and, thus far, what I see is that NOK has a chart that is more interesting as a chart than they have a business that is interesting as a business. Their chart is interesting, because it says NOK is now on sale. And, then, there is a REASON that NOK is on sale now... we know what that reason is... just as there is a reason the 808 keeps getting cheaper, fast, just like the stock has...

The 808 might be cool... but, I don't CARE that much... and, I'm in no hurry to own it just because, so, when it is on closeout... maybe I'll buy one IF the price is marked down enough... and, I don't think about the stock any differently ?
