Allan -- Thanks again for doing the legwork on this. Just finished reading through post #---827, and was a little disappointed see that no one picked-up on this.

The $99 Zip has been IOM's self-proclaimed Holy Grail of its marketing plan, and it now appears to be here!

Folks who are working on the Barrons stuff might want to consider including this news in their letters.

Also, those who have been around for a while might recall that back in July or August of '96 Barrons came out with a very damning anti-Iomega article just before options. (In fact they did it three or four months running)

The author of the piece went to the 10Q/K and took the standard boilerplate disclaimer material about how many ways the company could go to hell.... and printed it as breaking news. " Iomega says potential problem with smallpox outbreak at suppliers could have negative impact on future earnings. Also warns that new asian plant could potentially suffer damage from attack by roving bands of rogue elepahants if earthquakes in area cause landslides in their traditional feeding areas"...or stuff to that effect.

imho A $99 Zip is far bigger news than Barrons' bullshi*.
