Never stopped me. ;-) Anyway, thought of another reason why I adore my Nokia 808 which has nothing to do with adorable PureView: maps. Awesome. When you activate the 808, you get to download maps from all over the world for free, and they work WAY better than the very expensive Navigon on the iPhone we both paid for and adore. Well, I adored, my iPhone is now history. Cases in point. Last night I got lost at the Minnesota State Fair. I can get lost in our bathroom and have a hard time finding my dick. Anyway, off line, no data, just GPS, the 808 knew exactly where I was, step by step, and walked me back to my lovely Honda Element whose location I pegged, soon as we stepped out of it. Flawless. Second case. Today, I had to deal with a delivery to a neighborhood where the 35W bridge fell a couple of years ago. Map's completely different now than it used to be. The iPhone and Navigon could never deal with that neighborhood: completely changed. Anyway, moving on, the 808 knew the new street set up, from the gitgo. Got me there in no time! Same with public transport: every bus, train, whatever, Nokia has it pegged with time and place. UNREAL!!! No wonder Amazon is interested in Nokia maps. They absolutely ROCK! Methinks the Nokia map know how is being VASTLY under rated, at present. That too shall not last... I'm getting more and more interested in a very long term, progressively substantial - buy it and forget about it - NOK investment, if Wednesday goes right. Can't remember the dude's name who said we should invest in the companies whose products we love - had a few PUs with radishes - but he was right: if I had invested the same amount of money I spent on Apple products in AAPL, every time I bought a new Apple toy? I'd be a rich. Perhaps it's time for me to think this way about Nokia.
