Reality, of course, is that the man was utterly naive and incompetent when he made the promise. On taking office there were about 50 promises he had made that no knowledgeable individual would have ade.

Obama defenders invoke a blatant myth to shield the President from blame: he wanted and tried so very hard to end all of this, but Congress would not let him. Its true that Congress would not let Gitmos inmates get relocated to the states. They blocked every effort but there is another side to the problem............the originating countries for these prisoners will not take them back. So apparently we are stuck with them. BTW I wouldn't pay Greenwald too much mind..........he is to the left what Joe Walsh or Bachmann is to the right.
