I hate the word coalition

That's a red flag I've always hated, too. It always involves leftists with bad intentions.

Another one I hate is the press' use of the phrase, "reach out" instead of using the word, "contact." And, of course, there's the ubiquitous, over-used, "move forward." It's another code phrase for passing legislation and spending more borrowed money regardless of it's merit.

Coalitions are what make political parties and that's why George Washington didn't like them, but the nature of politics makes both parties and coalitions a necessity.
