Is winning political office, or passing amendments, the only measure of value of a person's actions? If so, then one would be smart to keep the nose to the wind and always stick with the majority.....

True about the attention span. We are not getting smarter. Probably a consequence of too much TV, too much computer exposure - and games... Too much one-lining on twitter and faceless-books.
