of course they are covering it up, the politicians don't have an answer they can give to the people about them. Politicians fear they will lose their job when they can' t answer a question about the unknown.

Whta are they gonna say' I don't know why they are here, I don't know if I can protect you from them, I'm clueless go votr for someone else"

you don't expect politicians to be honest do you ?

That letter was written in 1960 (over 50 years ago) when Cold War Research was moving forward on both sides and they were definitely taking their responsibility to the defense of the nation very seriously--including an extensive investigation into all sightings of strange craft and occurrences.

"no physical or material evidence, not even a minute fragment of a so-called flying saucer, has ever been found."

On the other hand, we have the comments made by Admiral Hillenkoetter.

So who to believe. Maybe some day one of the conspiracy theorists will come to the media with some actual alien evidence rather than vague comments such as "behind the scenes, high-ranking Air Force officers are soberly concerned about the UFOs."

The Cold War was a time of great fear and subconscious disquietude. One is not surprised to hear of a "sober concern". I recal feeling the same way, and I had 2/3 rds of 5/8 ths of sweet p_ss all as evidence. But fear fuels both imagination and suspicion and the bomb had broken the barriers of Science wide open and expanded the realm of the possible. To boldly go where no man has gone before...
