Washington feels as broken as it did four years ago,” Obama said. “And, if you asked me what is the one thing that has frustrated me most over the last four years, it’s not the hard work, it’s not the enormity of the decisions, it’s not the pace. It is that I haven’t been able to change the atmosphere here in Washington to reflect the decency and common sense of ordinary people — Democrats, Republicans and independents — who I think just want to see their leadership solve problems. And there’s enough blame to go around for that.” Dan Balz has a long article in the Post on why Obama did not change the culture of animosity in Washington. I never blamed you for the ban, as you quickly corrected yourself. Takes a big man to do that. But hopefully you can see now, that Wharfrat and I had to say something. It was the truth and relevant and quite unexpected. We had no hint Obama was going to take this direction. It cost us the house in 2010. Had Obama at least fought, he didn't have to win, just fight, we would not have lost the housein 2010. Maybe it was all the years the rat and I spent fighting the right wing that allowed us to see it better than Obama and that he was making a huge mistake. A mistake he now admits to.
