3 months in a row of shrinking ISM right here in the US. In addition, prices paid continue to soar. That is recessionary and inflationary...stagflation....proof positive that QE and endless bailouts of the big banks is not the solution to what ails our economy. Why on earth would anyone want 4 more years of this same B.S. failure?

ISM mfr’g remains below 50

By Peter Boockvar - September 4th, 2012, 12:57PM

ISM mfr’g for Aug at 49.6 was a touch below expectations of 50 and thus remains slightly below 50 for a 3rd straight month. New Orders fell to the lowest since Apr ’09 at 47.1 from 48 in July. Backlogs dropped a 1/2 pt to 42.5. Export Orders remained below 50 for a 3rd month but rose .5 to 47. Employment fell to 51.6 from 52.0, the weakest since Nov ’09. Inventories at the mfr’g level rose 4 pts to 53 but fell slightly at the customer level to 49. Prices Paid rose 14.5 pts to 54, a 4 month high. Of the 18 industries surveyed, 8 reported growth, 8 contraction and 2 saw little change. The ISM summed up the report by saying this, “Comments from the panel generally reflect a slowdown in orders and demand, with continuing concern over the uncertain state of global economies.” The quote sums up things well as many businesses are not only dealing with a moderation in order growth, led by weakness overseas but also very little visibility on how things will turn out economically particularly in Europe and with the US election.

More failure by Obama and Bernanke policies....

June Foodstamp Recipients Hit All Time High As Three Times As Many Americans Enter Poverty As Find Jobs

Following a brief period in which it seemed that US foodstamp recipients may have peaked, with those living in poverty maxing out at 46.514 million in December 2011, and then declining modestly for the next few months, June saw a new surge in those Americans living in poverty and thus eligible for foodstamps, with 173,600 new entrants into the system, bringing the total to a new all time high of 46.670 million and once again rising fast. Furthermore, with subsequent emergency events affecting the heartland due to the drought, the administration has made sure even more Americans will be eligible going forward. As a result expect the July and August numbers to promptly surpass 47 million on their way to the psychological resistance level of 50 million.Indicatively, the 173,600 increase in Foodstamps recipients in June was three times greater than Americans finding jobs (64,000, most of which part-time) according to the BLS. Finally, a new record was also breached for American households on foodstamps, which now hit 22.4 million, an increase of 106,298 households. The average benefit per household decline once more, this time to $276.5. Not an all time low, but just above it.
