OSO your 3 points see like a good compromise to me.

However, even if the offending (offensive?) poster got your e-mail address from SI - I'm not sure if it is SI's obligation to regulate e-mail between members. That would likely open up a can of worms for SI re: legal issues (speculation). (Also with certain e-mail packages you can prevent getting mail from specific addresses - so you may be able to fix the problem even w/o SI's help.)

Also it's no surprise to me that people all get bent out of shape whenever it comes to money. And stocks are worse. Because one has no control of the price and hence one's net worth (unless one has MOB connections!). Still, though, in a general context, I hate to stipulate what people can or cannot say - in this case it sets up SI as the judge and jury.

However, this is nothing more than a stock board and though I have not read the Terms of Use, it seems that stocks should be the focus, maybe even the only focus, of the discussions. This is not a political forum and was never set up as one. So that would make the case that personal attacks are not to be accepted. They also waste "bandwith". ... (occassional banter excepted!!! :-))) ) ........

O.K. I just read the (short) Terms of Use. One of the four items that won't be tolerated is:

Posting messages that include personal attacks, slurs or profanity, or that otherwise are intended to harass any other
member of the community.

This pretty much puts closure doesn't it?
