"They're the only company that has combined a network computer with application software on a server," she says.

I could be wrong but this statement is incorrect. Network Computer Devices and IBM come to mind as companies with application software on the server. The only thing going for Corel is the videoconference. This is no advantge because IMHO it can be knock off by any
comptetitor if there is a demand for it which I'm not sure there is right now.

The other concern I have is that Adobe which is eating away at the graphics side of business was in MS partner pavilion at Comdex and Corel wasn't.

Wordperfect is the superior product to Word but as previous sales have indicated SUPERIOR PRODUCTS can't take on a monoply like MS. The only hope I can see for Corel to compete fairly with MS and Adobe is that the DOJ breaks up MS which probably won't happen. Corel will not go belly up since MS needs them to protect them from anti-trust so MS will feed them a few scraps ever so often to keep them afloat.

If you have been following Ralph Nader he pretty much summed up MS monopoly and the power they have with ISV and hardware vendors. Nader is a very smart guy to fully understand how MS is manipulating companies with its Monopoly. Since Corel wasn't in the partner pavilion at Comdex I would think they are not on good terms with MS. So my conclusion is that Corel will have a ruff time ahead in the Windows enviornment.

The only hope for Corel to be really successful is to develop software on other platforms which doesn't leave much so they are caught between a rock and a hard place again. Java and NCs was one area they had to develop but they screwed it up so far.
