Just to add (a little) to the discussion, this is how VL computes the Avg annual P/E ratio, which is different from how they compute current P/E ratio:

The average price of the stock for the year divided by earnings per share (excluding non-recurring items, as determined by Value Line) reported by the company for the year. In the case of fiscal companies, all data are for the fiscal year.
