If the unproductive were spending their money, they wouldn't have $21T+ sitting in offshore accounts.

<<And what he's advocating largely amounts to taking from the productive and giving to the unproductive because he thinks they are more likely to spend it. >>

Productive and unproductive people is a myth and a story the elitist's want people to believe and it is nonsense.

The aristocracy love people who believe that philosophy. It is an elitist philosophy. That only a few people at the top can do the job, so we must all support them with special tax breaks and pay hommage to them and they will create jobs for us is pure bullshit. The job creators and their trickle down economics.

We liberals call it "tinkle down economics." The rich are peeing on our heads as they have done all through history. Which is why we support a progressive tax structure. it is best for society.

There are not productive and unproductive workers in the aggregate. There are people who need help, so they can help themselves to be productive. Obama got up at 4 AM with his mom to do his studies.

I grew up in Richmond California. Tough worker's town. A lot of us were saved by having the affordable community and state colleges. I use to work all night (graveyard shift) at factories and hamburger joints and went straight to class.

I worked my way through 6 years of university. We were poor and I paid for every cent of my education by working and going to school. But college in those days was affordable; and the local colleges saved half the kids I grew up with. Once we had educations we became as productive and as any person on earth,

So we liberals believe in a graduated income tax to build and fund those public institutions of learning, so we can educate everyone in our society.

Studies show for every dollar we spend on head start we get back between $60 and $300 in lower crime, and increased productivity (and I don't know where to find the study).

What we need to do now is spend a ton of money on public edcuation and then you will see a surge in productivity.
