I started this board encouraged by others on SI to focus on the breathtaking spending of the Obama's. Recently these plans were revealed as being in the works for a home in Hawaii and Presidential archives in Hawaii. There is some speculation that this is being planned now because Obama expects to lose. See links in message.

They can't afford it.

With Oahu property taxes at $3.50 per thousand = $122,500 annually, plus utilities and maintenance they probably can't afford to live there even without a mortgage.
