The text of Bernanke's speech was loaded with footnotes and academic references, but only a single one which may be deemed historical, and it was dated 1965. The rest was self referential, with many citations to work being done internally by Fed economists, some of which was unfinished.

BL: self-justification in the extreme, no sense of history despite his Depression background. Very odd scholarship.
