Cardinal Timothy Dolan called for protections for the unborn, in his benediction at the Democratic National Convention Thursday night in Charlotte, N.C.

“Grant us the courage to defend it, life, without which no other rights are secure,” Dolan said in the prayer. “We ask your benediction on those waiting to be born, that they may be welcomed and protected.”

Dolan delivered the benediction at the Republican National Convention in Tampa, Fla. Although that prayer contained language about the sanctity of human life, Dolan did not speak specifically about the unborn at the RNC.

Obviously the need to directly address the issue was much less at the RNC than the DNC. Republicans view the sanctity of life as a fundamental right. If democrats hold power long enough mothers will be able to terminate the unwanted lives of their teenagers.
