Agreed 100%, the voter suppression steps are a rearguard action at best if Obama can just turn out most of his 2008 electorate.

I am really curious to see what will happen if Rove and the Kochs and the rest decide down the line that they have to re-orient the party to draw non-white votes. That would be very, very tricky with the Tea Party crowd in the same tent.

As you said, could be the beginning of the end for the GOP as we knew it. I could easily see a fracture into two parties somewhere down the line, either that or more and more moderates simply defect to the Dems, especially if the 2016 Democratic nominee is fairly centrist.
