"POTUS is a leadership position.
A leader is responsible for everything his organization does and fails to do."

Yes, but if McCain had been elected do you suppose the wars would have ended that day, the Bush tax cuts would have been immediately suspended, the prescription drug bill would have been rescinded, the tarp would have been unspent and no stimulus would have been authorized in the face of a free falling economy?

The sad truth is that with almost all federal expenditures locked in and with declining federal revenues due to a plummeting economy it was inevitable that Obama would go trillions of dollars more into debt.

The better question is how much of that new debt should have been avoided. That's where the real debate is held with most Democrats saying he should have gone further into debt to provide more stimulus and most Republicans saying he shouldn't have gone as far into debt because the federal debt is dragging down the economy.

By the way, 300 billion of the 787 billion stimulus package was in the form of tax relief. Ed
