I am torn on the "stupid" issue. For years, I've maintained that a person, to support liberalism in our country, must be intellectually challenged. And there is a great deal of anecdotal evidence found on SI that there is in fact an intellectual problem in many cases. I argue politics in many forums, including with friends over dinner and forums that are comprised of almost totally extreme liberals and a few places in between. I can now state categorically that they're not all idiots. I think they tend to fall into a few categories -- - People who aren't stupid but choose not to be informed. My cousin is in this category. - Union members (including school teachers and certain government employees). - Yellow dog democrats. - Highly educated, but with some critical component missing from the brain that prevents logical reasoning when it comes to matters of government (Bill Joy, Bill Gates) - Performing Artists - Musicians, Actors, Painters -- they just cannot get it. - News Reporters - Can be highly intelligent yet still not grasp the concept that this all must come to an end. - Beneficiaries - Persons who stand to gain in some way by electing liberals. - Minorities - who identify with candidates of their minority over all others, always. - Radicals - Occupy Wall Street, for example. May overlap with "Others - stupid people" below. - Others - stupid people. In the end relatively few are just "stupid". Most have another reason for supporting liberals candidates.
