>BTW, the Barron's article said that in addition to its 200MB capacity, it is also faster than Zip. Is this true?<

Yes the Sony drives SPEC is twice as fast. The fact of the matter is that when Iomega releases the 200/100 MB unit then the 200MB mode will also be twice as fast given a doubling of bit density.

Friday I bought a Compaq 4814 with a standard, integral Zip drive for my office. Intersting thing is all the Sony boxes they had at Circuit City also had an internal Zip.

Rock, Iomega is locking down this market. They are shipping over 1,000,000 drives a month now and GAINING momentum. Iomega is in the best position now to drive pricing on a 200 MB drive and they have the technology to make the drive both in terms of reliability and cost.

Face it Rock, the backwards read of a floppy is a non-issue. All it does is increase cost and drive complexity. For a 200 MB drive all that will count is whether or not it can read a 100 MB Zip disk.

Rocky -

I wish I had a share of IOM for every time you've said that.
