I don't see how Romney can possibly be more specific. At least not about the issues everyone wants him to be specific about. Every specific either loses him votes among his base or among independents. His basic problem is that he never glued himself to his base so he could swing a bit free to court independents. I thought selecting Ryan would do that trick. But it's obvious from the response to his weakening poll numbers that it did not. Romney's got deep problems right now. Hard to see how he works his way out of them. Which doesn't mean he will necessarily lose the election: thanks to the amount of money running around and suppressing the vote in key states and legal challenges to the results which you can bet will be there.
