If something of the sort was to happen, it's anybody's guess how long it would take.

In this case there would be warning signs: the Germans would bow to the East daily, the French would revel in champagne 'n cossack dancing, and Venice would serve pelmeni in pesto and black-bean sauce.

I think all assumptions about time should go out the window because the rate at which things change is not only not a constant, but seems to increase as a function of time. A direct result of technology. Is this fact? Is this perception?

And I like to think the better potential just may have a way to keep creeping out

There is one and only one way.

The nation has to acquire a soul.

To acquire a soul, it has to understand true value.

To understand true value it has to put emphasis on life and creativity.

For emphasis on life and creativity, it has to de-emphasize profit.

To de-emphasize profit it has to be aware (in precisely this sense: a person who is truly aware of his/her action does not commit a murder. That is why you frequently hear "it wasn't me!" or "I don't know what came over me!" etc etc after such crimes).

To be aware, it's people have to be aware.

No so easy to wake up a sleeping continent, is it? We may all be asleep in our thinking minds.
