<Interestingly that would suggest that FDR may have resorted to intentional miscalculation for political cover to employ Keynesian remedies to correct a stalling economy>>

No, that is fanceful thinking.

FDR knew the United States faced a graet danger, and he knew the carnage taking place in Europe and especially our motherland England. He wanted to go in much earlier, but the isolationists stopped him.

No one at that time even understood Keynsian economics that well. FDR was still gaining trust in it and figuring out.

FDR, knew he had a big old war to fight. Thanks god he was president. Thank god Obama is president now.

I'd like an alien invasion to unite the planet against the human-hating aliens. It'd get us off each other's case and on the aliens. It'd get us off our ass and into space, where we should be going. What's not to like?

Now, all we need are some co-operative aliens that we can handle, or a false-flag thing good enough to fool every nation on Earth.
