So far, every time I've ordered a new Apple product first day it's been a nightmare of browser refreshing, hour after hour, trying to spend my money. I'm sure by the end of the day tomorrow I'll be totally pissed off at Apple, again.
A friend of mine who always gets the newest and orders as soon as he can told me that an easy way to avoid the overload that occurs is to use the Apple Store App on your phone or iPad. I am not sure how it is different but he is a pretty smart IT guy and he says that is what he does.

Try buying it from the carrier. I found that experience to be slow, when I did it last (A&T), but apart from taking a long time, it went smoothly.

Nice to hear so many of your colleagues are upgrading.
