Something that surprises me is that the lighting cable only uses USB 2.0. That seems like a real oversight for a brand new rather expensive cable.
For some reason I was under the impression that it was USB 3. I seem to remember seeing a slide about that during the presentation. But I could be wrong.
If it is 2 only, you're right. That's dumb.

The cable is not expensive. It comes with the phone.

This leads me to believe that its the ADAPTER that is 2.0, which makes sense.
