I don't Reagan could possibly be Reagan in this angry polarized modern age. One benefit he had over everyone else was he could appeal to folks across the spectrum being a conservative CA former movie star and governor. I doubt that would be enough these days as he'd be thrown out of the party or be so far right to not be Reagan anyway<g>

RE:"Didn't Obama define him once again very aptly yesterday when he said that Romney shoots first and then aims? Could Carter ever say that of Reagan?"

I'm sure he could. Carter was a peacemaker and Reagan kept the cold war going until he broke the communist block.

I can't really say Romney is like Reagan. Reagan was the great communicator. So far Romney is less so.

Reagan and Romney was/are both small government small business oriented guys.

For whatever reasons Obama is seen more of a peacemaker like Carter was but as we've seen that can backfire.

Some similarities with Carter and Obama in that after a dictator we formerly supported was ousted anti American incidents ocured.

The Shah who we previously supported was ousted. In 1979 Iran took 50 hostages.Made us look weak. There was a failed attempt by Carter to rescue them. Ultimately led to Carters defeat.
Sadat being assassinated after Carters Camp David accords didn't help either.

Under Obama, yesterday, americans were killed in Libya. Previously US backed Gadaffi had been ousted, we had diplomatic relations with him but backed his ouster, Obama and Hillary thought they had some smooth sailing with the new regime. That they would be grateful. Apparently doesn't work that way over there. Makes us look weak. Same for Egypt after backing the ouster of Mubarak..

Worse thing that could happen for Obama is that he seems weak and misguided on foreign policy in the middle east. Especially after dissing Romney at the convention by saying he had no foreign policy experience.
