I was at the greater NY dental meeting today and saw and met with the Biolase people, although Donald LaPointe wasn't around. First I was very disappointed that they didn't even have a prototype of the laserbrush available for us DDS's to try out. It seems that if they want to sell this to the general public they better get us DDS's on board first because our patients will ask us for advice. Not having it at the meeting put some doubts in my mind about it. Of course they had some reasons for not having it, but still It should have been here today. The laser- There was a fair amout of interest from the attendees. I expected larger crowds but a respectible turnout just the same. I saw the demonstration and it seemed OK but when I got in the drivers seat and actually tried it out....WOW! This hydrokinetic stuff is for real. I was very impressed, but at 39K was not ready to take the plunge. That will be a problem. This is very expensive. I'm not sure how many DDS will spend the money, and if they do decide to buy, I'm not sure that BLTI can produce the quantity of units that are needed. I met the former PLSIA sales force and they seemed very knowledgable and entusiastic about it. Bottom Line...I'm going to buy more stock.
