It seemed absurd at the time, and she is one of the few who pointed it out, that the USA backed Osama bin Laden and Islamic Jihad against Gorby in Vietnam [and probably in Chechnya too] in an obsessive anti-USSR crusade. Can you imagine backing Osama instead of Gorby? Gorby was late to the scene, but even after he arrived, the war against the USSR continued. But that's what they did [not that anyone knew about Osama at the time]. Ironically, the USA electorate will shortly vote for the continuing USSRisation of the USA as socialism and government dictat burgeon, supported by the likes of Metacomet, SeaOtter and hordes of others who are taking you on the road to serfdom and failure.

Carter and Zbigniew Brzezinski en.wikipedia.org thought it a clever idea to "give them their own Vietnam" [regarding Afghanistan and USSR]. Well, ooops a daisy. In a karmic loop, Afghanistan has turned into another Vietnam for the USA, with the Twin Towers gone, 3000 people in that pile of rubble, and a lot more besides, not to mention the odd $trillion or two.

Zbigniew's name suggests he had an axe to grind regarding the USSR, rather than any sensible reason in the interests of the USA.
