Everything Obama does or is or says will be torn apart by the ideological camp that wants zero-sum political outcomes in their favor. Unless you like watching knees jerk in rhythm 24/7, why bother?

I think Obama is correct in not being sure if Egypt is an ally or not. They were a bought ally under Mubarak for many years, but they've got new leadership now. Time will tell.

Some of the RW are saying "I told you so", as if we should have supported Mubarak and Ghadaffi against the insurgents. What country do THEY live in? Aren't they for freedom and self-determination?

I was addressing this situation somewhere else, my pithy (well, overly sarcastic, i can't help myself sometimes) take was something like, "I'd say Obama is damned if he does, and damned if he doesn't, but in Republican eyes, he's just damned.".

Buried in the news the last few days is Kurt Eichenwald's new book ,
500 Days: Secrets and Lies in the Terror Wars , and what it reveals about W's administration preceding 9/11. Turns out that it wasn't just the the Aug. 6 "Bin Laden determined to strike in US" briefing that preceded 9/11. There was a bunch more. I listened to a radio interview with Eichenwald, he said at one point the entire CIA counterterrorism group following Bin Laden was ready to resign en masse to protest being ignored, but they decided to stick it out, knowing they'd catch the flack for the inevitable attack, but dutifully staying to the bitter end anyway, because they wanted somebody there who knew what really happened. . W and Cheney's neocons couldn't be bothered, of course, all they wanted was propaganda for starting a war in Iraq. One news story:
