I've seen some articles that suggest diversification is a good approach to avoid losing your critical mass.

Best wishes,

"Most articles tell one how to attain financial goals but little is written about what one does when one has achieved them. That is what I am currently trying to figure out."

I had a similar challenge in the 1999-2001 period when, turning age 60 after a 20 year career as an CPA working in the Comptoller's Dept of a Gobal Energy company, I realized the compny would likely end up merged with either Shell or Chevron. For the that period, I kept a list of possible activities that MIGHT interest me after being retired. Some seemed good when I thought of them, but got crossed off on later reflection. When the big day arrived, I was still unsure. I joined the local Rotary Club and networked with lots of nice business people, but those weekly luncheons can put weight on and they give member stuff to do (raise donations from local businesses, arrange for luncheon speakers...) which got old. In summer 2002, i enrolled at a nearby art school and determined to learn from scratch principles of drawing as a basis for learning how to create oil paintings on site and in the studio. I had seen a PBS Series where the landscape painter, John Stobart, traveled to different scenic spots in the world to create paintings and thought how great it would be to try to do that too. Well, I'm still learning, watching art dvd's and taking classes. You meet the nicest people in the process.

Hope this helps you.
