In your example, for the second $250000 at an extra 4.6% it is $11500, but it really is on Adjusted Gross Income, less the larger of the Standard Deduction or Itemized Deductions, and AGI is after any deductions for business expenses and business losses (on Schedule C, or similar). So it's less than $11500.

Dick Morris is another vile human being. He is slimey. Can't do anything with those kind of guys except protect yourself. Reince Preibus is another really stupid, venal guy-----like pretty much everyone else in the Republican party these days. And I don't think we can give the moderate Republican's a pass any more. Anyone who thinks there is one iota of substance and validity in that party is delusional. It is like looking for redeeming qualities in the KKK. So moderate Republican's with any brains and conscience should leave the party. There is nothing there to salvage. It isn't just that they are wrong about everything, they now just make everything up and boldly lie (where no one lied before). And look at this voter suppression. They are doing it out in the open. Most would see that as shameful, which it is, but more than that, it is nuts. You want to hide that kind of shit like they used to do during the Jim Crow south. These Republican's are nuts and venal, so what are Republican's like Olympia Snow or Meghan Mccain actually fighting for? There is no there, there.
