I agree with the basis of your post that the media tends to put a positive spin on every event and any negative or sell oriented discussion is avoided.
To their credit though they did not recommend buying stocks like IDID (Comparator) Bre-X etc, the speculators bought such momentum stocks on their own and may not be affected by what the media has to say so those examples may not be a good analogy.
Also, during the anniversary week of 1987 crash they had presentations which were on the negative side, although they did not explicitly tell people to sell.

Staff: What a diatribe . . . .but I loved it! I'm also short a brokerage firm (EGRP), lovely down move since I did it BTW. Honestly, though, the CCI was based on its chart. It has gotten so much easier to pick good shorts than longs, low hanging fruit as it were. P.S. How many shares of Comparator were traded that day (biggest in history)?
