You know what we aren't discussing on this thread? What's happening in the Middle East.

How many of you have seen the movie by Bill Maher called Religulous? I'm a Roman Catholic. I saw it with my wife and we thought it was hilarious, albeit a pretty biting critique of Christianity. I found some parts distasteful, but there were many laugh out loud moments. I've often been on these threads deriding the Evangelicals as a little nutty and extreme. In one case, I called them the American Taliban, because they have skewed our politics a bit. However, after watching Maher's show, neither my wife nor I felt any compulsion to run out and start a riot against Maher nor resort to any violence whatsoever. We just chalked it down to free speech...some parts tasteless and other parts funny, but also very much American in that he expressed his views in a unique way and he has the God given and Constitutional right to do that.

Then this stupid TRAILER making fun of Mohammed shows up on Google. I watched it. It was tasteless and really wasn't funny to me at all. But Muslims all throughout the Middle East are rioting, killing, and demanding that we apologize. We should never apologize for Free Speech in this country. And I'm sick to death that we're steadily and surely rolling back our freedoms in this country because of Muslim terrorists and their stupid, uncivilized, and extreme demands.

First, we enact unbelievable breeches of our Constitution in the form of the FISA and NDAA laws, allowing warrantless wiretapping, surveillance, indefinite detention, and assassination of Americans, and now our government is apologizing for our Freedom of Speech. All of this has happened because of our fear of Muslims and the extremists in their midst.

At what point do we stop being pussies and stand up and say, "enough is enough! We won't stand for any more destruction of our liberties."

I want Obama and Clinton to stand up and ask the Muslims why they condone murder in the name of their religion over a stupid video. Why are they so intolerant and so extreme that they let themselves get worked into a frenzy over a stupid, tasteless video? Those are the questions we should be asking, not apologizing and asking Google to take it down. F__k no. Google did the right thing to keep that video up. Our forefathers died in large numbers to buy us our freedom. It's time we stop the erosion of those freedoms.
