Also, posts could be made containing collections of URLs of a more generic nature such as articles on market makers and background info about the NASD. For example, maybe someday we will discussing NASDAQ listing requirements.

Ken:

If I could make a sugestion for the research thread, check out what the "56 Thread" people (origin from The 56 Point Analysis: Charts with an Attitude thread) have done for a research thread at Subject 16778 . This system seems to be working fairly well with several other active threads for discussion, analysis of picks, suggestions for "the blender" (a 56 point TA review of potential stock candidates), and get together/seminars of 56'ers to study and socialize.

They have a librarian who manages the posting and references which are pretty frequent. I am not volunteering for the job. :-) I do like the suggestion that the most recent post contain the prertinent links for a newby to do DD. I too don't want to have to click my mouse or page down key any more than is necessary.

Thanks all for your continuing effort, faith, and original (though now dated) post.

Peace and Justice --- Patrick

Ken, with SI's new feature (jump to unread messages in bookmarks) my objection to lengthy headers has become moot. Clearly headers will soon be read only by those who are new to a thread. Given that you've taken the advice to start a research thread, it should be encouraged not only by continued posts (of course, relevant to research issues) but by also occasional references back (and forth) to messages in the chat thread. Double-posting on both threads should be discouraged.

Thanks again for sheparding this through. Ron
