Separation and "clash of civilizations"... That's what Hutchinson predicted. And this is exactly what Islamists want. Their grievance against America and the West is not so much about a silly movie or pictures of Muhammad, but the greater threat to their beliefs and traditions. They find that we are corrupting them - and, from their point of view, we are. They think that they can hide behind an iron curtain -- and they are doing a fine job building one.

I believe that we should give them exactly what they want. But along with it, give them economic isolation as well. The fact is though, that they cannot survive without external enemies to keep the eye of scrutiny from looking at their own leaders. They need us. They need Israel. Without us, they will have non-stop civil wars throughout the region.

The ones who will get screwed the worst will be the "moderate" Muslims. They will find themselves living under despotic theocratic regimes which will not look kindly at religious moderation.

This is why I say that a muslim reformation is necessary. The moderates live in fear and don't want to rise up - for the most part they have not been squeezed enough. If the fundamentalists are walled-off (and I mean also being embargoed by the West, economically and financially), eventually the moderates will be forced to challenge the radicals, win or lose. They either become civilized or remain an eighth century cesspool, rotting itself to extinction.

Last I looked - India 2012 Census details, there are approx 200M people in India that practice Islam as their religion of choice. Out of a population of approx 1.1B Indians. India has more Muslims than Pakistan's entire population.

Not once in recent experience, have I seen any of them living in India under a "despotic theocratic regime". Also I have never heard of "re-education establishments" in India. That phrase reminds me of the Soviet Era and folks like Alexander Solzhenitsyn .
