McDonald strikes me as a very successful sociopath who is able to charm some people into believing his story.

It's a wonder how he manages it from behind bars. He's been there for over 30 years and new supporters crop up all the time. He manages to get TV interviews from time to time. He finds lawyers who will work pro bono. They all go away eventually, but then another bunch comes along.
