Actually, ted, check your facts. An attack on a US embassy is an Act of War. It is an invasion of US sovereign territory and they also murdered US citizens. We should acknowledge that it was an Act of War. See below for legal definitions:

Embassy premises and its diplomatic staff fall under the sovereignty of the ambassador's home country. The embassy premises and the staff are protected under the concept of diplomatic immunity by the host country.

But as I said in my previous post, I wouldn't advise going to war over this. Rather, I would just pull our people out of Libya and cease all funding and aid to that country for a specified period. That will send an important message to the government that if they want our friendship, then they have an obligation to protect our embassies.

However, this isn't just the Libyan gov'ts fault. It is our own as well. They did give us 3 days warning, which we poo pooed and ignored.
