stockman... dell doesn't have a p200 with 56k modem and cd rom and 32meg of mem and 1000 worth of software for $1000....home unit on the business side I just quoted them since I buy dells and cpq for work the p166 and p200 cpq deskpro is priced about 50 dollars cheaper than the dell business pc with the 3 yr warrnaty and the 2.1 gig drive the comment if you will look at it and the repsonses is about the home unit and how after the first time buyer gets a loaded p180 for 799 or a p200 for 999 ...then buys a p300 or p266 for 1000 on his second pc... Dell doesn't have these pcs and if you bought allot of them from cpq and dell you would know this

stockman, go to dell website and build me a loaded cdrom, 56k modem etc etc. that is aleast p200 for sub 1k. then look at it from a first time buyer point of veiw and cpq has a p180 that is loaded for 799....build something loaded to compete with that.. remember, has to be home unit with the 1000 dollars worth of software. actually on the buiness side dell's are only 50-100 dollars more expensive than cpq. on the home model they are smashed out of the ball park. it is why micheal dell heehawed around when he got that question last wqeek then look at the trends in fareast and europe and latin america right now... dell is heading for trouble there becasue there has been a paradigm shift in last few months to lower cost. the reality for dell will not show up til 1998 and I've said that since 1996. heck europe use to love the highest end and pay more...but, that isn't going to happen now
