I'd be very surprised to see RAYS make its numbers this quarter. If Hauslein failed to cut costs in his first 6 months as CEO, why would he cut them now? I'm only holding because we seem to have a very solid base at about 6, and we're not that far off it now.

I haven't run the numbers yet for this quarter, so I can't comment on your analysis. But I also can't argue with your bottom line.

From what I hear, the Huts in my town aren't doing anything extraordinary so far this shopping season.

News from the front line

I went on my bi-annual pilgrimage to the Regional shopping mall this weekend the parking lot was jammed but emptying (as I arrived late). We have two Sunglass Huts out in the mall plus a Sunglass Hut "nook" within our Burdine's department store.
I was appalled to see "old crusty yellowed" sales tags on the mechandise across ALL lines RayBan, Arnettes, Killer Loop, Oakley, Gargoyle, etc. It was obvious that at these locations the inventory problems still have not been resolved, more than a year after these problems came to light. Please note that this is purely an isolated observation, and may not apply to All stores.
I also di not see much improvement or change in the merchandising.

If your have a Hut in your area, I would ask you to stop by the counter, while shopping, and see if the same conditions are present and post a note on the thread.

The other question I've asked myself and that has been posed by others on the thread is why do we need 3 Huts in one mall? I, for one, would walk to the other end of the mall for my X-Metal's; heck I'm probably going there anyway.
I guess only Sunglass Hut management really knows whether these duplicative stores are really performing up to the company's goals. But it's a situation that certainly leaves this outside observer wondering.
