hell, I don't care what the strike was about (yeah right, money wasn't a factor....4% per year for four years....uh hunh).

There shouldn't be any job security for teachers who suck.

But....that's not the point. The point is THANK YOU CHICAGO TEACHER'S UNION!!!! Perfect timing to demonstrate how the teacher's unions hold a gun to the public's head whenever they want something. We are only 6 weeks before the election and middle of the road types are going to be associating union coercion with Obama. Yeah Baby!!!

The same "early termination" problem exists in the Federal government. Supervisors lack the skills or are reluctant to terminate when they have the chance. Hence, "bad" employees remain and create problems over their long tenure. Btw, that is not to say that Federal employees are bad. By and large they are very good, hard working and dedicated Civil Servants. They care about doing a good job! I know of which I speak having had about 3,500 of them (about 60% who were WG) working for me in the mid-80's. And my SO is a 43 Veteran of the DOT!!! In the end, in all professions its more about leadership and supervision than being about the employees themseves.

Caveat: I am for smaller government!!! lol
