Greenspan keeping short term rates so low made it easier to fund those stupid no money down option ARM 's with 1% start rate and make the initial payment with negative amortization on the back end appear affordable to the buyer even after values had just doubled or tripled in a couple of years.....you know the ads.. Yes, but those stupid no money down option ARM 's with 1% start rate and make the initial payment with negative amortization on the back end didn't exist before Bush came to power. To many things changed in the industry after he took office for it to be coincidental. Just because there is candy all around doesn't make you fat. You have to eat it for that to happen.
