I suspect it's an idea that will catch on.

Earlier this week, was walking down the main drag of our fair city with my daughter-in-law who wants to buy a little gold. and I pointed out my coin dealer to her. Right after that, we must have passed half a dozen places with "We buy gold and silver!" signs in the windows.

I pointed out to my DIL that the time to sell would be when places like that are selling gold.

Like 1980. In a related incident a few years ago, I ran into a woman I used to work with. She knew I had escaped the cubicle by trading internet stocks and she asked me how that was going (this was 2003). I replied that I was now doing fine with gold and silver (boy, things were sweet that year... not important) and she floored me with the following comment.

"Will the silver certificate I bought in 1979 at $45 an ounce ever come back?"

I had to resist visualizing her fully covered in fluffy white wool. Oh, dear.
