Ready to get fired up again....

Maddow Blog chart based on Gallup data

Gallup released a poll yesterday on voter enthusiasm in swing states, and I put together this chart based on the results. On the left, you'll notice Gallup data from late June, which found Republicans with an edge when it came to those who considered themselves "extremely" or "very" enthusiastic about voting in this year's presidential election.

On the right, you'll see the latest figures, based on a poll that wrapped up earlier this week. The good news for Republicans is that GOP voters are more enthusiastic now than they were in June. The bad news for Republicans is that swing-state Democratic voters are much more enthusiastic, and have surged past their rivals.

The whole thing just made sense to them -- the Bush and Obama administrations deliberately attempted misguided sting operations so there would be deadly gun violence along the U.S.-Mexican border, which in turn would repulse the American mainstream, which in turn would create a demand for gun-control legislation, which in turn would cause Congress to pass gun-control laws, which in turn would cause a breakdown of Second Amendment rights.

Remember when the Bush43 admin came into the WH and claimed that the outgoing "juveniles" of the Clinton admin had vandalized the White House, causing tens of thousands of dollars of damage? There was an investigation and months later a report came out that said that the WH had not placed any extraordinary work orders for repairs, vindicating the Clinton people of any wrong doing. But some Republican responded by saying something like, "Well, just because they couldn't find any work orders doesn't mean that they didn't do any damage!"

This is what Republicans do, over and over. Some of them are still convinced that there were WMDs in Iraq; they were moved to Syria, and now Assad will use these Iraqi WMDs, wait and see. It is somehow never over for them. They cling to their ideas with a force stronger than the sun's gravity. It is really a remarkable thing to behold. Holder will be guilty forever for them, evidence be damned.
