Yes, I have no answer for that, because that is a very difficult question. The non-Americans are an easy choice. If they are engaging in terrorism or aiding and abetting terrorists, then lets go get them with drone strikes. But the problem I have with Americans being targeted is this. What happens if 20 years from now when the war on terror is over (LOL) and some new American leader decides to use these powers to silence his critics so he can be re-elected? What if, like all Dictators, he tries to amend the laws to allow himself to be President for life and there is widespread protests and he uses those assassination laws to call the protesters terrorists and he starts eliminating them to intimidate his detractors?

You see? This is a very slippery slope. I know you probably find those scenarios far fetched, but they have happened way too many times in history for us not to take those possibilities seriously. In point of fact, it happened in my father's birth country. It's why he's here in the US now. He saw exactly that happen to his country. So I take our Freedoms very seriously. I would rather forego the killing of a few bad actors and live with the elevated risk rather than let our President have the power to assassinate Americans without a judicial review. That's just me. I'm conservative and am very zealous in protecting our Freedoms for future generations.
