That doesn't invalidate the study, rather, the small sample size reduces the stated confidence interval.

And with a control group of twenty the confidence levels should be so small as to make the study nearly worthless. That's the big complaint. The others might have some importance, but aren't as big of weaknesses in the study as the small sample size, particularly the very small control size.
