BSkyB targets US penetration rates -paper
LONDON, Dec 1 (Reuters) - The chief executive of British satellite broadcaster BSkyB (BSY.L) said his target was to emulate U.S. penetration rates for cable television, the Financial Times reported on Monday.
''The most important thing is to expand our penetration rate, rather than focus on getting as much money out of our current subscribers as possible,'' BSkyB's Mark Booth told the FT in an interview.

U.S. penetration for cable television in urban areas was 70 percent, the paper said.

Booth said he wanted to invest in British made-for-television films with budgets of between one and five million sterling. Sports and films would remain a crucial element, but some other aspects of its service that had been almost ignored would be reconsidered.
