joss, gtw sales have done ok, but by no means can they be compared to cpq. cpq's unit sales were up nearly 60% and gtw was up just slightly more than half that.

it is just flat out difficult to make money at these levels. the guy where i bought my computer added in a $270 warranty package without even asking. of course, i made him remove it. i don't even think the retailers are making more than a few dollars and that is why they are aggressive with the flim flam warranties. that is the only way they make much profit.

Sales can rise as market share decreases, as Brian is suggesting. With ASP's steady, revenue will increase. That being the case, as component costs decrease, margins and profits will increase.
