Re: sen Hatch.

Amazing. The man is either too dumb or too arrogant to understand that, under the pretense of giving wise "fatherly" advise, he is actually demanding to get paid off. He is telling business people to "get active" and spend money on politicians and power brokers.

Had a chat last night with a colleague who is originally from India. Travels there from time to time. I told him about the positive predictions that I read about Indian economy. He said yes, but the problem over there is too much regulation and bureaucracy. Apparently, many young people in that country take the so called civil service exams. They get government jobs and appointments, depending on their scores.

At first blush, it sounds like a good thing - a meritocracy. But otoh, if you think about it, it's a scheme to siphon off the brightest young people into the the public sector. Gives politicians and bureaucrats more influence and prestige. Proves to be just another scheme designed to perpetuate the counterproductive, bureaucratic system.
