I lied to you
when I said "I love you."
I am more ambiguous
than those simple words.
I devour you, at times,
with my affection.
Dreams of your absence,
wake me, crying.
But I have also hated you
with wanton abandon.
Imagined you dead,
and smiled.
So I lied to you
when I said "I love you."
But what else could I have said?
